HEROES ON HORSEBACK (Davisson-J 2012)

HEROES ON HORSEBACK (Davisson Fall 2012) is a huge, gently recurved 9" purple with a darker purple band and a unique "tulip bowl" shaped throat that is diamond-dusted cream yellow over green that flares out onto the petals. Stately scapes are 43" tall with 4 way branching and 18 buds with immediate rebloom giving another 11 buds for an extra long bloom season. Lightly fragrant. A delightful season extender as it blooms early.... around the same time as STELLA DE ORO. A hardy tetraploid dormant plant that is easily fertile both ways. (MIDNIGHT AFFAIR X SWIRLING SPIDER) X OSTERIZED. This is one of the first plants to bloom in my garden each year....a welcome relief to the small yellows and golds that typically bloom early in the season. Blooms out slowly and is strongly recurrent so it has a long bloom season extending into late mid-season.
